The stranglehold of American democracy by corporations and the wealthy is evident through established avenues such as campaign contributions, independent campaign spending, and lobbying. However, an emerging trend showcases another dimension of corporate influence, with companies leveraging their impact by actively engaging their workforce. Recent data reveals that between 30 and 40 percent of employees experienced various attempts by their employers to shape their political activities and opinions during the 2016 election cycle. This multifaceted approach underscores the evolving strategies corporations employ to wield influence over the democratic process.
